GETTING READY TO SEW Extension Table The extension table provides added sewing surface and can be easily removed for free arm sewing. Detaching the table: Pull the table away from the machine. Attaching the table: Push the extension table until it snaps into the machine. Connecting the Machine to the Power Supply Before connecting the power cord, make sure the voltage and frequency shown on the machine conform to your electrical power.
Turn off the power switch. Insert the machine plug into the machine socket. Presser Foot Lifter The presser foot lifter raises and lowers your presser foot. You can raise it about 0.6 cm (1/4˝) higher than the normal up position for easy removal of the presser foot or to help you to place heavy fabric under the foot. Q Normal up position w Highest position To Attach and Remove the Presser Foot. Changing Needle CAUTION: Turn off the power switch when changing a needle. Raise the needle by turning the handwheel toward you and lower the presser foot.
Loosen the needle clamp screw by turning it counter- clockwise. Remove the needle from the clamp. Insert the new needle into the clamp with the flat side away from you. Setting Spool Pins The spool pins are used for holding the spool of thread in order to feed thread to the machine.
To use, pull up the spool pin. Push down for storage. Removing or Inserting the Bobbin Case Open the hook cover. Dr oz clean detox manual pdf.
Hook cover Raise the needle by turning the handwheel toward you. Winding the Bobbin 1 Pull the handwheel out. 2 Draw the thread from spool. Guide the thread around the bobbin winder thread guide. 3 Insert the thread through the hole in the bobbin from the inside to the outside.
Align the notch q of bobbin to the bobbin winder spindle rib w. Threading the Machine Raise the take-up lever to its highest position by turning the handwheel toward you. Raise the presser foot. Place a spool on the spool pin as shown, with thread coming from back of the spool. 1 Draw the thread into thread guide using both hands. 2 While holding the thread near spool, draw thread down into the tension area and then around the check spring holder. Drawing Up Bobbin Thread 1 Raise the presser foot and hold the needle thread lightly with your left hand.
2 Turn the handwheel slowly toward you with your right hand until the needle goes down and continue turning the handwheel until the take–up lever is at its highest position. Balancing Needle Thread Tension 1 Correct tension The thread tension is adjusted depending on the sewing materials, layers of fabric and sewing method. The ideal straight stitch has threads looked between two layers of fabric, as illustrated (magnifies to show detail). For an ideal zigzag stitch, the bobbin thread does not show on the right side (top side) of the fabric, and the needle thread shows slightly on the wrong. Pattern Selector Dial Raise the needle and presser foot. Turn the pattern selector dial to select the letter at the setting mark.
Setting mark Note: Do not turn the pattern selector dial while the needle is in the material. Stitch Length Dial Turn the stitch length dial to set the desired stitch length at the setting mark. The higher the number, the longer the stitch length q Setting mark.
' ' is the recommended setting for buttonhole stitching. Reverse Stitch Button As long as you keep the reverse stitch button depressed, the machine sews backwards. Darning Plate To set the darning plate: Position the darning plate with the 3 pins on the bottom.
Fit the darning plate pins into the needle plate holes. The feed dogs will show through the darning plate holes. BASIC SEWING Straight Stitch Sewing q Pattern selector: A or B w Presser foot: Zigzag foot e Thread tension: 2–6 r Stitch length: 1.5–4 z Raise the presser foot and position the fabric with its edge lining up with a seam guide line on the needle plate. CARE OF YOUR MACHINE Dismantling and Assembling Shuttle Race Unit Note:Turn off the power switch and/or unplug the machine. Sewing Light The sewing light is located behind the face plate. To change the bulb, take the face plate off the sewing machine by removing the set screw. Unplug the power supply before changing the bulb.

SERVICE ACCESS (1) FACE COVER Face cover (To remove) Remove the face cover by removing the setscrew (A). (To attach) Mount the face cover in reverse procedure of the removing.
BELT COVER Belt cover (To remove) Loosen setscrew (B). Take the belt cover out.
(To attach) Mount the belt cover in reverse procedure of the removing. SERVICE ACCESS (2) BASE PLATE Base plate (To remove) Loosen the setscrews (A). Remove the base plate. (To attach) Mount the base plate in reverse procedure of the removing. SERVICE ACCESS (3) FRONT COVER Front cover (To remove) Remove the face cover, and remove the belt cover (See page 4). Remove dial (A). Loosen setscrews (B), (C), (D), (E), and (F) and then, remove the front cover by removing setscrews (G), (H), and (I).
SERVICE ACCESS (4) REAR COVER Rear cover (To remove) Remove the face cover and belt cover (See page 4). NOTE: Pull up the spool pins. Loosen setscrews (A), (B), (C) and (D) (2 pcs.), and then, remove the rear cover by removing setscrews (E), (F), (G) and (H).
MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT TOP TENSION To check: The standard upper thread tension should be 65–95 g when pulling the thread (cotton thread #50) in the direction of (B) with setting the tension dial at '3'. (make sure the foot should be lowered.) If the tension is out of the standard range, adjust it as follows: Adjustment procedure: Remove the front cover unit (See page 6). MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT BOBBIN TENSION To check: Set the bobbin in the bobbin case and pass the thread (cotton #50) through the tension spring. The bobbin thread tension should be 45–55g when pulling the thread in the direction of (B). If the tension is out of the range, adjust it as follows: Adjustment procedure: Turn the adjusting screw (C) in the direction of (D) when the bobbin thread tension is too tight. MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT PRESSER BAR HEIGHT AND ALIGNMENT To check: Raise the presser foot lever (A). The distance between the presser foot (D) and the needle plate (E) should be 6.0 mm (0.24').
Adjustment procedure: Remove the face cover (See page 4). Raise the presser foot lever and loosen the setscrew (C) on the presser bar holder.
MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT NEEDLE SWING To check: Adjust the needle swing according to the following procedure, If the needle bar starts moving sideways while the needle is in the fabric when sewing the zigzag pattern (with maximum zigzag width). Adjustment procedure: Set the pattern selector dial with maximum zigzag width, and remove the front cover (See page 6). MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT NEEDLE DROP To check: When the needle swings in maximum zigzag width, the distance between both ends of the needle hole on the needle plate and the needle drop positions should be equal. If not, adjust as follows: Adjustment procedure: Remove the face cover (See page 4). MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT CLEARANCE BETWEEN NEEDLE AND HOOK (ADJUSTMENT METHOD NO. 1) To check: The clearance between the needle and shuttle race should be –0.05 to +0.10 mm. If not, adjust as follows: Adjustment procedure: Remove the face cover (See page 4).
Set the pattern select dial at '. MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT CLEARANCE BETWEEN NEEDLE AND HOOK (ADJUSTMENT METHOD NO.2) To check: Use this adjustment method NO. 2 when method NO.1 cannot be used. The clearance between the needle and shuttle race should be –0.05 to +0.10 mm. Adjustment procedure: Set the pattern selector dial at '. MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT FEED DOG HEIGHT To check: Lower the presser foot. Turn the handwheel toward you to bring the feed dog to its highest position.
The height of the feed dog from the needle plate should be 0.75-0.90mm. If it is not in the range, adjust as follows. Adjustment procedure: Open the shuttle cover. MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT NEEDLE BAR HEIGHT To check: When the tip of shuttle hook meets the left side of the needle in ascending travel of the needle from its left and lowest position, The distance between the top of the needle eye and the tip of the shuttle hook should be in the range of 2.9-3.5 mm. MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT NEEDLE TIMING TO SHUTTLE To check: The height of the needle point from its lowest point of travel should be in the range of 1.4-2.0 mm when the tip of the shuttle hook just meets the left side of the needle at the left needle position. Adjustment procedure: Set the pattern selector dial at '. MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT BUTTONHOLE FEED BALANCE To check: When sewing buttonhole, the stitches on each side of buttonhole should be the same stitch density.
The range of 9-12 stitches in the right side row 'backward feeding' against 10 stitches in the left side row 'forward feeding'. MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT FEED BALANCE ON STRETCH STITCH To check: If the stretch stitch patterns are distorted with setting the stitch length dial at ' S.S. (In case of being a difference between forward feeding and backward feeding during stretch stitch pattern sewing), make an adjustment as follows: Adjustment procedure: Remove the cap. MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT BARTACK FEED OF BUTTONHOLE To check: The acceptable bar-tack feeding of buttonhole should be 1 mm or less in 20 stitches when the stitch length dial is set at “4”. Adjustment procedure: Set the pattern selector dial at ' '. MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT DISENGAGEMENT OF CAM FOLLOWER To check: If the clearance between the cam follower and the top convex of the zigzag cam is not enough, the pattern selector dial is blocked or will not select the correct pattern. Adjustment procedure: Remove the front cover (See page 6).
MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENT MOTOR BELT TENSION To check: Improper belt tension may cause noise, overload of motor, slow running or motor belt jumping. The belt deflection should be 7mm - 9mm when pressing the middle of the motor belt with approximately 300 grams of pressure. Adjustment procedure: Remove the belt cover (See page 4). WIRING Remove the belt cover. (See page 4.) Remove the screws (A), (B) and machine socket cover. Follow the above procedure in reverse.
